Dublin VA’s Annual 9/11 Observance Set For September 9th

The Carl Vinson VA Medical Center will host a 9/11 observance on Friday, Sept. 9 at 8 a.m. to honor the memory of those who died as a result of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and to celebrate the enduring spirit of America. The ceremony will take place on the front lawn of the medical center by the U.S. flag.
Medical center director Maryalice Morro, who responded to the Pentagon on 9/11, extended an open invitation to all VA stakeholders and the public at large to attend the annual ceremony.
“Our annual 9/11 observance gives us all a chance to stop and reflect on the tragic events of 2001, but it also reminds us how our nation immediately got to work to regaining a sense of our solidarity as a country. I hope that everyone will join us for this brief but patriotic event,” Morro said.
The ceremony will include a formal flag raising by the Carl Vinson VA Police Department with a musical accompaniment by local vocalist Clay Young, a moment of silence, and a recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.
Communications director Dr. Frank Jordan expressed the VA’s hope for a large crowd.
“We are actively inviting our stakeholders into our medical center so that everyone committed to veterans’ needs can see how we are caring for America’s heroes. Events like this one provide an excellent opportunity for them to do that as well as offering our community a chance to come together. It bolsters patriotism and national union and is a perfect chance for us to transmit a sense of patriotism to our children. We’re really hoping that schools and others will consider bringing the kids out,” Jordan said.
The Carl Vinson VA Medical Center is located at 1826 Veterans Blvd., Dublin. For more information, contact Dr. Frank Jordan at 478-274-5440 orFrank.Jordan@va.gov.
