Altama Museum Welcomes Artist Meredith Raiford

The Altama Museum of Art and History in Vidalia presents “Broken,” works on board and canvas by Meredith Raiford.  The pieces are a striking visual representation of the dark and broken world we live in, pierced by the light of hope and salvation.  Characterized by moody, swirling mists, grey swamps and lifeless trees, elements of light shine warm, bright and reassuringly, reminding the  viewer of God’s power to restore and revitalize.  In addition, guests will have the opportunity to view Ms. Raiford’s mural work in Third World and developing nations, presented through photography.  The show will open Sunday, January 29 and run through Friday, February 17.  Opening reception will be Sunday, January 29 from 1 till 4 pm with Gallery Talk by the artist at 3 pm.  Original works and prints will be available for purchase.  Museum hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 11 am until 4 pm and by appointment.  Questions may be directed to Jen Martinez at the Museum at 537-1911 or altama@bellsouth.net.  The Altama Museum is located at 611 Jackson Street in Vidalia, across from the library.
