In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by two brothers, Jack and Johnny Lewis and one son, Scottie Kenneth Miles.
Betty married the love of her life,Kenneth, on August 19, 1954 and was a 1955 Graduate of Baxley High School in Baxley, GA. She grew up in South Georgia but she and Kenneth have also lived in Hawaii, FL, SC, NC, and VA.
As a preacher’s daughter, Betty grew up playing the piano and singing at church. Then God blessed her with children to sing with her and it was truly the JOY of her life. “The Miles Family” traveled singing in churches together for many years and all family gatherings included her children singing with her around the piano.
After Betty retired from banking, she and Kenneth moved to Myrtle Beach, SC and enjoyed many years with their precious grandchildren spending their spring breaks and summers with them at the beach. MaMa always served up her special homemade peach ice cream and pound cake and they often had their own church services at “Chapel by the Sea”, which was held in MaMa and PaPa’s sunroom. Because of their declining health, Betty and Kenneth moved to Concord, NC three years ago to be near their family.
Without question, Jesus was first in her life followed by her family and her friends. Betty also enjoyed her flowers, loved to read, work crossword puzzles, and watch Hallmark movies. As a loving wife, mother, MaMa, and friend, she will be dearly missed and will never be forgotten. The Godly legacy and the precious heritage her loved ones have now inherited will never be surpassed.
