Wild Bill McKubby 10am - 2pm

Hi everyone, it's Wild Bill I have been in Country Radio for the past 12 years.  I've worked up and down the dial all over the country from South Dakota, Vermont, Michigan, Indiana to Minnesota.  I've worked mornings on Z-94 back in 2004 and then took a morning show job in Columbus GA in 2005.  I worked for Country station WKCN and stayed there for 2 years.  I married my lovely wife Marilyn just over the Georgia border.  Marilyn is from a little town called Smith Station, Alabama. I also became good friends with Alan Dupriest in Columbus GA while working with him in radio.   I did the unthinkable, I left the south and moved to Mankato Minnesota and worked for country station KYSM for 4 years.  My daughter Emma Elizabeth was born in Minnesota in 2008 and she is the love of our lives.  It sure is nice to be back home in Georgia being close to Family and friends.  I look forward to meeting and reconnecting with all of you!

Carrie Underwood's Statements on Gay Marriage

CARRIE UNDERWOOD: In Favor of Gay Marriage

Carrie Underwood has come out in favor of gay marriage. She says it's wrong not to be able to marry someone you love.

Carrie tells the U.K's Independent,  "I can't imagine how that must feel I definitely think we should all have the right to love, and love publicly, the people that we want to love."

Carrie, who is a devout Christian, thinks her acceptance of same-sex marriages comes out of her religious beliefs."God wanted us to love others. It's not about setting rules, or [saying] 'everyone has to be like me.' No. We're all different."

If Carrie Underwood was a run of the mill country artist who came out with this statement I would personally disagree with this and probably think it's better for your music career to not come out in support of a hot political and spiritual issue in fear of offending a large segment of those who listen to and enjoy your music.

Carrie Underwood when she got married spoke passionately about her and her husband Mike Fisher's Christian beliefs. She talked about how she read the "Purpose Driven Life", prayed with her husband and had Bible study together. When Carrie says her opinion is based on Christian faith, I have a real problem with that because the very same scripture she studies contradicts her views on gay marriage.

Carrie the next time you and your husband Mike have a Bible study.  Here's some scripture worth looking into that contradicts what you claim God approves.

1 Corinthians Chapter 6
Romans Chapter 1
I Timothy Chapter 1
Jude Chapter 7

Here's audio from all the phone calls I recieved in reaction to Carrie Underwood's statements on gay marriage. Please post your thoughts in the comments thread!

Speaking of Bible study...
...how do you feel about the parts on endorsing slavery, the various instances in which it's appropriate to stone women or other people, or any of the other ridiculous, outdated preachings of the Bible? Carrie's just putting herself on the right side of history, and you, callers, and everyone else bashing Carrie for her statement will be relegated to shameful statistics in history books. Enjoy.

You're disgusting.
It's sad when someone supports equality (HOW SHOUD EQUALITY EVEN BE A QUESTION?!) and people cannot support her. What kind of a world do we live in when people cannot support each other equally?

gay marriage
Folks haven't been reading their Bibles. I mean really reading it Wild Bill. God cover homosexuality in both the new and old testaments. He has never changed. But the further we wonder from His will, the better our way seems. As for my house, we follow the way of the Lord.

Carrie Underwood on Love for everyone!
I am a Christian and I totally support Carrie in growing in her faith to realize that loving all and treating everyone equally with God's love being shared with everyone is the most important tribute to share instead of being judgmental. That is for God alone to do.

Slavery
The Bible denounces slavery as sin and goes as far to put slave traders in the same boat as murderers (1 Timothy 1:10) Plus we have to use our "proper" hermeneutics to see what the Bible actually says about slavery. Back in the days of Leviticus slavery was sanctioned due to economic reasons. Back then, there were no such thing as bankruptcy laws so people would sell themselves into slavery to rectify debts. A craftsman could use his skills to literally "pay off" a debt. Or a convicted thief could make restitution by serving as a slave. (Exodus 22:3) The Bible recognizes the reality of slavery, but it never promotes the practice of slavery. It was the biblical principles that ultimately led to the overthrow of slavery, both in ancient Israel and in the United States. One has to only go far as to think why the Jews left Egypt in the first place to see God's view of slavery. It took some years in America to wake up to the realization of biblical truth that all people are created by God with innate equality. (Genesis 1:27, Acts 17:26-28, Galatians 3:28) We are all one race, the human race, in God's eyes.

Your Bible
You "Christian" people do know that the verses in the Bible were not written by God or Jesus, right? They were written by men (and women Mary Magdalene) and then put together by "The Church" in Rome thousands of years ago by men not God or Jesus. "The Church" has been proven over & over again that they are deceitful & liars! Do you see the common thread here....the men!!! The men of years ago lied, cheated, deceived the future generations by picking & choosing what "they" wanted in the Bible. So, why do you trust what has been written by men & not God or Jesus. Good Luck with your judging ways....I guess we will know if ya'll were right when death comes to each of us.

Response to "Your Bible"
You have issues with Christians, Christianity and Scripture and have no respect for anyone of faith. Carrie Underwood claims to believe in the Bible and to be a devout Christian while at the same time believing in "Gay Marriage" Save your anti-Christian rants for other websites that spout atheism - Wild Bill

Wild Bill you could at least spell Mike's name correctly. It is Fisher not Fischer! Sorry but I have to agree with Carrie! God does the judging of people not you or I. God loves everyone!

Wow
People are idiots. It's about spreading LOVE not hate -- which is what Carrie believes. Oy vey.
06/12/2012 5:28PM
How sad that you would pick on a fellow christian
You show no love, compassion or faith. I choose Carrie and her love of christ and her search for what is real and honest, not your fake ugly self indulgence that supports oppressing people. Shame on you.

Wild Bill
I am not an antheist. I believe in God & Jesus...just a better version than what I was taught in Baptist school & church. If you read my comment correctly I have issues with the men that "wrote" the Bible because it has been proven they only put in what "they" wanted not what God would have wanted them to. Which leads to "is it really right or wrong"? Honestly, we don't know because HUMANS wrote the Bible. It is not for us to decide...each will meet their maker & be each judged. My job on this earth is to live by the Golden Rule "Do unto others as you would have them do to you"....to me that means love all and do not judge.

Humans Wrote...
If men wrote what they want and it wasn't from God than you really have no basis of believing in anything. God is not the God of the Bible. He's whomever you want him to be. My only point in all this is if Carrie Underwood is going to comeout and passionately make the case for her faith and her belief in the Bible (which she has) then she's believing in something the Bible directly contradicts and explicitly speaks out against.

from Wild Bill
California is the second bluest state in the nation; second only to New York. Liberals hold every position of significance including the Governorship and the majority of the state’s Assembly and Senate. Both United States Senators are liberal, as well a majority of our United States Representatives. There is little argument that, by and large, people in this state vote left of center and, in some cases, far left of center (consider San Francisco). So if the issue of gay marriage is a “left-right” political issue; if Christian conservatives are truly to blame for obstructing “marriage equality”, then why is it that voters in this state have rejected the idea of allowing same-sex couples to marry not once, but twice? The first defeat came back in 2000 with Proposition 22 which passed with 61% of the votes. The second defeat was more recent (2008), with the passing of the now infamous Proposition 8, which passed with a slightly smaller margin of 52% of the votes. Consider North Carolina, the state in question these days. North Carolina is only a slightly lighter shade of blue then California and New York, but you cannot ignore the fact that both the Governor and Lieutenant Governor; that 7 of the 13 United States Representatives; or that the vast amount of their General Assembly, are all liberals. It’s fair to say that most North Carolinians (more than 50%) do, in fact, vote left of center. So, again, if conservative Christians are to blame for railroading “marriage equality”, why is it that early polling shows that a majority of North Carolina’s voters are going to pass the constitutional amendment and put in place a hard restriction on gay marriage? The truth is, is that “gay marriage” is not a “left-right” political issue at all. For liberals, it’s far scarier and far worse than that. The truth is that most people decide this issue, not on the basis of their politics, but on the basis of their religious beliefs and that proves that, while liberals love bashing the conservative religious-right, plenty of liberal’s quietly side with them on this specific issue. In fact, hypocrisy abounds in this arena as most liberals will publicly support gay marriage to remain popular, mainstream, and non-offensive, while quietly siding with the religious-right on voting day. Don’t believe me? The proof is in the pudding and you need look no further than the fact that gay marriage has never, not even one time, been accepted at the polls. You are the slim minority on this issue and out of step with the rest of the country when it comes to gay marriage. The overwhelming majority does not want quit shoving it down our throats

the next Christian to eat seafood should belt themselves on the head with the Bible. Carrie's not in the wrong here.

Hey Bob
Carrie is the one inserting her religious beliefs into this. See ya at the polls on the next gay marriage proposition.
06/14/2012 9:40AM
Government
The problem is that evrytime gay marriage is brought up, everyone immediately starts quotign the bible. Marriage license are issued by governments and there is NO place in government decision making for ANY religion. Aside from the religious argument, there is no legitamate reason to deny gay people the right to marry. There is not a public health crisis, a crime crisis or any other reason except a claim of morality based on a religious belief.
06/14/2012 9:51AM
Government
31 states have made gay marriage illegal. I wonder how indifferent they are? Catholic adoption agencies have been forced to shut down because they refuse to adopt to gay couples because it goes against their religious beliefs. How's that effecting them personally? Will Stauff This acutally did happen in Massachusetts. Now the Church is out of the way, so the State can be as secular and gay-friendly as they want. They've won a battle over the Christo-Facist American Taliban! Now the State, who clearly had the better answers all along, will have total control. I just don’t understand Why all the long faces among the secular left Boston media? The first answer, of course, is deep down they understand this "faith based institution" can do a vastly better job then the foster care system. The second answer, portrayed by such admirable Catholics as the MA Senators we've come to love, is the demand among liberal Catholics that the Catholic Church mean whatever they want it to mean, thousands of years of tradition not withstanding. Northeastern liberals are stubborn, all their neighbors in the bay area just went unitarian or started worshiping rocks and trees years ago. Consistency in a state that has legalized same-sex marriage should compel it to require ALL churches in Mass. to perform at least "gay" and possibly non-gay same-sex marriages. What exactly are non-gay same-sex marriages.? Would that be, for instance, two mules? You eventually are going to run into constitutional issues with this. They may not be forcing churches to perform gay weddings but this certainly opens the door for this to happen down the road. -Wild Bill

Fact check
Catholic adoption services were not "shut down" by the government. They were told that if they wanted to continue to receive Federal funding then they could not discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation. They chose to close all by themselves. Wild Bill you should be ashamed of yourself. Instead of having a thoughtful discussion here, you are throwing out Republican propaganda that is patently false and designed to mislead.
06/14/2012 10:50AM
Response to Fact Check
You show me your facts I'll show you mine. According to direct statements from the Catholic Church in Massachusetts they have stated they closed their doors because of discrimination laws thanks to Gay Marriage in the Bay State and threat of lawsuits. Here's the actual news not the commentary "Catholic Charities, in response to a Massachusetts law allowing for adoption by homosexual couples, said it would stop providing adoption services - so as not to run afoul of another state law, that one being the state's law against "discrimination". The social services arm of the Roman Catholic archdiocese, which has provided adoption services for the state for about two decades, said the law runs counter to church teachings on homosexuality. "The world was very different when Charities began this ministry at the threshold of the 20th century," the Rev. J. Bryan Hehir, president of Catholic Charities, said in a joint statement with trustees chairman Jeffrey Kaneb. "The world changed often and we adapted the ministry to meet changing times and needs. At all times we sought to place the welfare of children at the heart of our work. "But now, we have encountered a dilemma we cannot resolve," they said.

Response to Fact Check 2
So your telling me if they decided to stay open that they wouldn't face anti-discrimination lawsuits from the Gay Marriage community? They chose to close for a reason and that reason was because of the future threat they would be facing thanks to Law. Tell me where I'm wrong?

with gay friends, one of whom is an openly gay legislator, in an effort to disabuse them of the notion of laws based on one's avowed orientation, is that anyone can claim to be gay, and that many friends would claim the status to secure the benefits of an institution, whose primary purpose is to encourage an ongoing healthy civilization by encouraging the the rearing of children by blood parents in an exclusive relationship, lest children end up being wards of the states and also not have the civilizing benefit of a male and female parent. Moreover, marriage would become a mockery as same sex straights would be able to have marriages annulled at will due to lack of consummation. It would just be a mess in so many ways as a distortion of the tax structure, etc The worst effect would be on children of course as marrigae would more resemble business partnerships with their own parents relationship diminished by association.

Re; Fact Check
Please let me apologize for getting the wrong Catholics. I was refering to the Illinois Diocese that closed instead of accepting Federal funds. Now on to Mass. Please let me begin with the history of the Mass Catholic adoption service. Massachusetts was the first state in the country to enact a statute governing adoption in 1851. 12 In 1903, the Archdiocese of Boston formed the Catholic Charities of Boston, primarily in response to concerns among Catholic leaders that orphaned or abandoned children baptized as Catholic were “miscategorized” as Protestant and placed with Protestant families by state officials. 13 Adoption served the core mission of the agency, as it was formed initially with the purpose of “safeguarding the faith” of Catholic children. Today, this agency operates under contract to the Mass Dept. of Social Services. They could not otherwise legally provide adoption services except under direct government supervision. The State of Mass is legally bound to not discriminate in any state matters including adoption, so if the Catholic organization could not operate under the same standards as the state then there was no choice but to cancell their contract which was funded with taxpayer funding. This is simply a legal reality and has nothing to do with an attack on their faith.

RE: Fact Check
Thanks for the dialogue. It sounds like from no fault of their own Catholic charities in Massachusetts are dependent on the government which means new law can adversely affect them. While some may say "Gay marriage" doesn't personallyaffect them and on a surface day to day level that may be the case, however you have to admit your going to run into Constitutional Issues.

Being for/against a particular act, based on moral principles, is not being "judgmental"...it's being "principled" based on your personal and moral beliefs.

Gay marrieges
Is the act of homosexuality an “innocent” sexual preference, or is an act that is disgraceful and countermand to the Law and the Commandments of God. The answer that is crystal clear is not given by philosophy or sociology but by the Word of God the Holy Bible. The Holy Bible is not an invention of the mind of man, it is Revelation from God. Let us see what the Holy bible says. (Leviticus 20:13) 13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
