A called Budget Meeting was held January 17th
at the Fine Arts Center- Baxley High School. The first topic of discussion was the renovation of Appling County High School’s stadium.
Mr. Larry Pope, architect for the project, spoke. He outlined the budget, presented plans and answered questions about the development. Included in the design are items, such as restrooms, which will bring the stadium up to code and make it more handicap accessible. Mr. Pope believes it will tie in well with the surrounding buildings and make “a good statement for the county”.
Construction, or actually destruction of some existing structures, is set to begin almost immediately. Those in attendance were assured the field would still be available for Graduation Ceremonies this year.
Funding for this project comes from E-SPLOST monies raised from the one cent sales tax.
