After 36 Years, a Message in a Bottle & Its Owner Are Found

A message in a bottle dropped into the water in 1983 has been found–and so has the woman who sent it as a child, according to The Bangor Daily News.  11-year-old Jenny Brown wrote the message, and asked the finder of the bottle to write her at a provided post office box. The bottle traveled 200 nautical miles and ended up at the Cape Cod National Seashore Park, which is where Joshua Mendes found it about two weeks ago. The Mendes family had a tough time finding the girl, even with the post office box provided in the message. However, once the find was reported, information started trickling in and Brown was found. The Mendes family contacted her on Tuesday. These days, Jenny Brown is 48-years-old with two sons and four grandchildren. “I think it is pretty neat. It’s been a long time to have something you threw in the water wash up,” Brown’s sister said. “It took her by surprise.”
