The following is a statement released by Toombs County High School yesterday afternoon:
“In the last few minutes, Toombs County High School entered into a lockdown due to a report by two heroic students regarding a weapon on campus. School administrators and officials immediately responded, and the student and weapon were removed by law enforcement from campus within minutes. TCHS remained in a lockdown while law enforcement conducted a walk-through of the building, ensuring all students and staff were safe. At this time, TCHS will resume our daily schedule and will have a soft-lockdown (limited activity and access) with law enforcement presence for the remainder of the school day and at dismissal.”
