Gregory Oliver Williams, age 59, of Baxley passed away Monday, October 17, 2022 at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.
Mr. Williams was born July 23, 1963 in Appling County to the late Richard Oliver Williams and the late Janette Vaughn Williams. He was a member of Zoar Baptist Church. He graduated from Appling County High School in 1981 and went on to Georgia Southern University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree and later done his undergraduate studies. Then he received his Masters and Specialist degree in Leadership from Valdosta State University. Mr. Williams’ passion as an educator and coach were coaching basketball and serving as principal at Fourth District Elementary School, where he dearly loved the faculty and students. He was very devoted to his family, especially his children and grandchildren and was constantly found doing for others.
Survivors include his wife, Lynn Williams; daughters & son-in-law, Lydia Williams and Jana & Ashley Carter; son, Frankie Williams; sisters, Julie Smith and Violet Marchman; grandchildren, Jaylee Boatright, Ashlynn Carter, Olivia Carter, and Ashton Carter; nieces & nephews, Peyton Perry, Alayna Marchman, Noah Marchman, Trent Smith, George Smith, and John Smith.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Pastor Robbie Tomberlin and Pastor Roy McClung officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
