GBI arrests Glennville Police Department’s Court Clerk

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has arrested the Glennville Police Department’s Court Clerk, Linda Thompson.  The department asked the GBI to investigate allegations of theft involving one of their employees. Glennville PD investigators noticed missing money from fines that had been paid to the City of Gleenville. Thompson was responsible for the funds. After the investigation, it was revealed that $10,000 of funds were unaccounted for in 2015. Thompson was arrested Thursday and is charged with one count of theft, by a fiduciary of government funds.  The investigation is ongoing and more charges may be forthcoming.  Please contact Special Agent Ashley Brown GBI Statesboro at 912-871-1121, if you have information involving this case.
