Drug felon, girlfriend behind bars after sting in Effingham Co.

A successful drug sting in Effingham County has landed a known drug felon behind bars.
The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit, along with agents from the Chatham Narcotics Team, went undercover to pose as potential buyers, meeting Jeffrey Sanders at a local convenience store. They purchased a large amount of methamphetamine “ice.” Sanders was immediately taken into custody.
At the time of his arrest, Sanders was out on parole for previous drug and weapons charges. A search warrant for his Waldhour Road home in Rincon resulted in the recovery of cash, meth, RX pills, and marijuana.
Sanders’ girlfriend, Jeanine Cowart, was present at the home and was also arrested, based on evidence gathered. Charges for the two include sale of controlled substances and possession with the intent to distribute controlled substances.
