On April 23, the Appling County Bulldogs Air Rifle Team traveled to Rock Eagle 4-H Center to compete in the 2016 State Competition. Shooters that competed were Gabe Music and Madysen McLellan. Madysen shot a 512 out of a possible 600 and placed 2nd in the Junior Division and 6th overall Gabe shot a 528 and placed 1st in the senior division and 1st over all.
Along with his first place, Gabe also achieved Master 4-Her and is invited to attend the State 4-H Congress in July.
The 4-H Air Rifle program is only its 2nd year of existence and is coached by Mr. Steve Haynes and Mr. Jeffrey McLellan. It is open to 4-Hers between grades 7th and 12th. The Air Rifle Competitors shoot 20 shots in 3 positions (prone, standing and kneeling) at a distance of 33 feet.
