Arrest Made in Statesboro Armed Robbery Investigation

The Statesboro Police Department has made an arrest in an Armed Robbery case. On 6/1/16 at approximately 0049 hours, the Statesboro Police Department received notification that an armed robbery had occurred at an apartment in Eagle Court. Officers responded and began investigating the incident. It was reported to the officers that a black male with a t-shirt tied around his face pointed a handgun at the victims while forcing his way into the residence. The black male demanded money then fled the area on foot. Officers were unable to locate the offender in the area.
The case was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Bureau and assigned to Detective Kevin Wadley. Through Detective Wadley’s investigation, he identified Ronald Wells as the offender. Detective Wadley secured a warrant for Wells’ arrest.
On 6/26/16, Corporal Travis Smallegan was on an unrelated call for service at Eagle Villa Suites. Corporal Smallegan recognized Wells at the call for service and arrested him for the active warrant without incident. Wells was taken to the Bulloch County Jail to await further court action.
