The Appling County School Nutrition Program ensures that all students receive proper nutrition. Not only do school meals help reduce hunger, but they also improve the health of children and their ability to learn. Students are able to qualify for free or reduced price meals in Appling County. In order to qualify:
- A child’s parents must complete a meal application and return it to the child’s school or the Appling County Board of Education’s Nutrition Department. Families will be notified if their application is accepted or denied within 10 days. If the application is denied, keep in mind that parents can reapply any time family size or income amounts change.
- Children may also qualify by direct certification which is based on family participation in programs such as SNAP or TANF.
Parents are strongly encouraged to take care of completing meal applications for their children as soon as possible. Information will remain confidential.
