Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s Traffic Investigations Unit (TIU) responded to a two-vehicle collision on Diamond Causeway, just west of the Moon River Bridge, that resulted in the death of Richard Hample, 29, on Sunday, Feb. 12.
At about 6:40 p.m. Metro responded to scene, finding Hample deceased in his vehicle. Kasey White, 24, also was found injured in her vehicle. White was transported to Memorial University Medical Center in serious condition.
Investigators believe Hample was driving east on Diamond Causeway as White was traveling west on the causeway. Hample crossed the center line into White’s lane, resulting in a head-on collision.
This case remains under investigation by SCMPD’s TIU.
