Rick Allen’s Weekly Report

Happy Tuesday! I hope you had a meaningful Easter Sunday, joined by family and friends, as we celebrated His death and resurrection. I spent the weekend with my family and it was great that we could be together.
After six weeks of legislative work in Washington, I am back down in the district, where I love to be the most. I want to congratulate Sergio Garcia on his stellar performance and his first major championship. The tournament concluded in true Masters fashion with a Sunday evening playoff hole that left us all in awe. Congrats Sergio!
This past week, I spent a lot of time traveling the district. I had the opportunity to give remarks to the Glennville Chamber of Commerce and discussed the atmosphere in Washington under the Trump Administration, my work on the House Agriculture Committee and our next Secretary of the USDA, Governor Sonny Perdue. Thanks to all of those who attended!

Thank you to the Glennville Chamber for allowing me to give you an update on my work in Washington.
I caught up with my good friend Deke Copenhaver on “There It Is” to take questions from constituents and discuss a wide range of current issues in Washington.

I had the opportunity to visit Lake Forest Hills Elementary to discuss the Communities in Schools program with a number of educators. Communities in Schools works with students ranging from Pre-K to those in high school who are at risk of missing school, dropping out, and failing to earn a high school education. By helping the most vulnerable students improve their learning skills, stay in school and succeed, they are building stronger communities where every person is capable of reaching his or her highest potential.
As a member of the House Education and Workforce Committee, helping our students is one of my top priorities. Thank you for taking the time to discuss your inspirational work with me and sharing your ideas on how I can help at the federal level.

I was also able to speak to the Coastal Regional Commission of Georgia about the importance of funding the Savannah Harbor Expansion Project. This project will support jobs and commerce throughout the nation and connects the Southeast’s economy to the markets of the world, not to mention the industry that will locate to the area as a result.

Touring Southwire in Coffee County.
I spent Thursday in Coffee and Tattnall Counties, beginning my day with a tour of one of the top industries in Douglas to see what they are doing for the community.  I want to thank those at Southwire who took the time out of their day to give me a tour of their facilities. Southwire is a leading manufacturer of wire and cable used in the distribution and transmission of electricity and is a great job creator in Coffee County. After the tour, I spoke at the Douglas Rotary Club and gave an update of what is going on in Washington.
I was also able to join Governor Nathan Deal at the Law Enforcement BBQ in Tattnall County on Thursday.

One issue of legislative business I wanted to flag for you is H.J. Res. 43. As you know, Congress has been using the Congressional Review Act to roll back Obama-era regulations. President Trump signed this important piece of legislation into law—ensuring that states will not be forced to fund Planned Parenthood with taxpayer dollars. Under no circumstances should any taxpayer dollars be used to fund abortion. I am proud to be working alongside an Administration in support of pro-life policies.
This week you can find me out in GA-12, so if you see me, make sure you say hello! If I don’t get to visit with you, I encourage you to take a minute to share your thoughts, concerns, or questions with me. You can do so by sending me an email HERE, call any of my offices or join the conversation on FacebookTwitter, or Instagram. Hearing what is on your mind helps me better represent you in Washington.
Sincerely,

Rick Allen
Member of Congress
