Douglas Resident Jailed for Distributing Cocaine

Coffee County Sheriff Doyle Wooten released the following
A 24-year-old Douglas man was jailed for cocaine distribution and other multiple felonies earlier this week after authorities initially responded to a report of an altercation at a local residence.

Douglas police were dispatched to a home on Dewey Ave. last Sunday, July 9, in regards to two men allegedly engaged in a physical altercation involving firearms. As officers approached, one person fled the scene on foot. Officers observed an individual identified as Brandon Carter run into the residence and attempt to exit soon thereafter.
Officers made contact with Carter at a doorway of the home and noticed a bag of suspected marijuana lying on the floor just inside the residence. Carter was detained at that time, and the Douglas – Coffee Drug Unit was contacted to respond to the scene.
Further investigation conducted by drug unit detectives uncovered a quantity of crack cocaine, marijuana, ecstasy, a loaded firearm, and $508 in cash.
Brandon Carter was arrested at the scene and transported to the Coffee County Jail. He faces charges of possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and criminal use of article with altered identification mark.
