ACSO WEEKLY REPORT 09/29/17 THRU 10/05/17

The Appling County Sheriff’s Office completed the bid process for a Construction Management Company to oversee the new detention center addition.  Allstate Construction Group, Inc., of Perry, Georgia was awarded the bid by the Appling County Commissioners.  Sheriff Melton attended High Center of Gravity Driver Training in Forsyth.  ACSO deputies participated in the Middle School Safety Drill.  Deputy Keith Mack visited Kids Academy for Community Week.  Sheriff Melton and a number of deputies attended the Altamaha School Fall Festival.  Tony Forehand, Pastor for Cornerstone Church, was Chaplin for the week.  
For the seven-day period of September 29, through October 5, 2017, The ACSO provided the following services:
Deputies/Investigators wrote 26 citations, made 11 arrests, performed 34 Sex Offender Compliance Verifications, issued 19 warnings, completed 23 incident reports, served 40 Criminal and 34 Civil papers for various courts, and provided security for two (2) sessions of Superior Court.  There were 10 vehicle crashes work by deputies, with assists from the Georgia State Patrol.  Deputies patrolled 6,517 miles for the period.  The Sheriff’s Office considered it an honor to provide four (4) funeral escorts throughout the week.  Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office initiated three (3) new criminal investigations and completed/closed two (2) current cases.
The Appling County Detention Center provided protection for our citizens by safely housing an average of 95 inmates during the current period.  Jailers completed 19 new inmate intakes and processed 33 inmate releases, which includes any inmates from other counties that request our assistance in housing their inmates.  The medical united provided 91 medical checks for the week and food services served 2,061 meals. The ACSO also provided one outside detail that maintains the grounds of most county facilities.
The 911 Emergency Call Center Dispatchers received and dispatched 665 calls for service, of which 213 were emergency calls directly to 911.  These numbers do not include routine communications between dispatch and units, nor does it include the normal calls for training and drills.
