EGSC Baseball, Softball seasons heading into conference play

The seasons are beginning to wind down for the East Georgia State College Bobcat Baseball and Softball teams, but both are intent on finishing strong. On April 17, the Lady Bobcats Softball Team defeated USC Salkehatchie 3 to 1 and 5 to 2. They went on to defeat West Georgia Tech on Saturday, April 21 1 to 0 and 12 to 0 to sweep the series.
Their game against Georgia Highlands the following day was rained out and will be rescheduled at a later date. The Lady Bobcats are currently one game out of third and fourth place with conference games on Thursday versus South Georgia and a makeup game versus Georgia Highlands to be
scheduled for this week. The conference tournament will be May 3 – 6 in Rome, Ga. The Bobcat Baseball Team defeated West Georgia Tech 17 to 7 on April 17 in Carrollton, pushing the conference record to 16 and 4.
They went on to defeat West Georgia Tech by a score of 1 to 0 and 16 to 4 to sweep their home series over the weekend. The Bobcats still hold first place with a two-game lead over South Georgia State with only six regular season games remaining before the conference tournament May 9 – 12. The Bobcats played at home Tuesday, April 24 against Georgia Highlands, then will travel to Highlands for a weekend series on Friday and Saturday. The Bobcats will then play on Tuesday, May 1 against Gordon at 3 p.m. away and Thursday, May 3 against ABAC away.
