Bobcat Baseball Clinches Regular Season Conference Championship

East Georgia State College’s Bobcat Baseball team defeated Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College on Thursday, May 3, 2018 by a score of 8 to 3 to clinch the regular season conference championship and secure the first place seed for the GCAA Conference Tournament May 9 – 12, 2018. The Bobcats played a tough game against Gordon State, losing 14 to 4, but remained in first place with a one game lead over South Georgia State College as of May 1, but fought back in their game against ABAC to secure the title. They took on West Georgia Tech on Saturday, May 5 in their final regular game of the year. Going into the West Georgia game, the Bobcats had a 30 and 15 overall record for the season, which set a new season record for most wins in school history! The Bobcats also showed a conference best record of 23 wins and just six defeats—another EGSC record as well.
The game against ABAC made the Bobcats back to back regular season conference champions, and they head into the Conference Tournament at Gordon State College May 9 – 12. The game on Wednesday, May 9 will begin at 11 a.m and 2 p.m., with the same start times on May 10.
