People are getting scammed by fake FedEx test messages lately, according to The Washington Post. The messages link to an Amazon listing and ask people to complete a survey and claim a reward. They then must enter their credit card information to pay for shipping. “By agreeing to pay the small shipping fee, you’re also signing up for a 14-day trial to the company that sells the scammy products,” says tech site How-to Geek. “After the trial period, you will be billed $98.95 every month and sent a new supply of whatever item you claimed as a reward.” Neither Amazon nor FedEx have commented on the scam. However, FedEx notes on its site, “FedEx does not request, via unsolicited mail, e-mail or sms messages, payment or personal information in return for goods in transit or in FedEx custody.”
