Vehicle Crashes into School Bus in Bacon County


 
Update: August 13th, 12:00 pm.
The truck driver’s name has been released. He is Johnathan Grayer of Jacksonville, Florida.
The accident occurred shortly before 4:00 pm on August 12th and there were ten students in the bus at that time.
It is not believed that the injuries sustained by the students or the bus driver, Jerry Sweat, are life-threatening.
 


Update:  7:45pm
According to The Georgia State Patrol, a Bacon County school bus was stopped on US 1 South unloading students in the outside lane when a box truck rear-ended the bus.
The driver of the box truck has died, according to GSP. Several students were taken to the hospital and three students were airlifted from the scene.
The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident and we will have more information as it becomes available.

Earlier this afternoon, a school bus in Bacon County was struck by another vehicle. The accident occurred on US 1 South. Local and State agencies are responding to the accident. It is not currently known what caused the accident.  There are injuries but it is unknown how many or the extent of the injuries.
Air-evac is on the scene.
Avoid the area if at all possible.
