Russell Joseph Crosby – 72

Russell Joseph Crosby, age 72, of Baxley passed away Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Appling Healthcare System.
Mr. Crosby was born June 6, 1948 in Baxley to the late Joseph Leon Crosby and the late Marcell Hampton Crosby. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a retired CPA and former owner of Crosby Tax Service. Mr. Crosby also served as the chairman of the Appling County Commissioners and was the first president of the Baxley Kiwanis Club. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and antique car collector and was a member of Satilla Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Crosby was preceded in death by his daughter, Tina Renee Crosby.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law Ammie and John Ledford of Nicholls; sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna and Randall Odum of Baxley and Pam and Brookie Carter of Baxley; grandchildren, Alexis Gonzalez, Emma Ledford, Evan Ledford, Jasmine Crosby, and Chelsie Crosby; great grandchildren, Honesty Crosby, Carmelo Byrd, and Treazure Crosby; and special friend, Doris Davis.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Satilla Baptist Church with Rev. Therman “Pet” Hayes officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Ryne Powers, Jayson Powers, Evan Ledford, Donald Aldridge, Ricardo Cruz, Tarry Crosby, and Larry Crosby.
Honorary pallbearers will be all those in attendance.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
