Andy “Snap” Jones, 56, of Jesup, Ga. passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022 in the Altamaha River doing what he loved to do. The Wayne County native was of the Church of God faith and a former millwright, iron-worker, boiler-maker and pipe-fitter with several local unions. Shad fishing and hunting deer were the most enjoyable times spent on the Altamaha River. He was known as “Sanford” for his love of collecting junk. Andy had the biggest heart and never met a stranger, but if you ever met him, you would never forget him. His daughter, Shannon Vinson preceded him in death along with his father, Harry Jones, his father-in-love, Lamar “Tater” Landon and his best friend, Timmy Nordberg.
Survivors are his wife, Sandy Landon Jones of Jesup; a daughter, Hannah Jones of Macon; two sons, Joseph “JoJo” Anthony Jones of Macon and Tyler Grantham of Jesup; two grandchildren, Kenyon and Sunnie Lauren; mother, Arlene Leonard Herndon of Baxley, sister, Angie (Jody) Knowland of Warner Robins; niece, Amber Sweat and nephew, Drew (Tessa) Woods; mother-in-love, Barbara Landon of Jesup; granny-in-love, Minne Jo Nordberg of Jesup and his beloved dog, “Dozer”.
Graveside funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 23, 2022 in Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Ronald Rentz officiating. Active pallbearers will be Lindsay Ogden, Jerry Atkinson, Shaun Odgen, Larry Odum, Mike Woods and Bryan Knox.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to services at the cemetery.
