Clifton Dwight McGowan, age 70, of Surrency passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023 in the Pavilion.
Mr. McGowan was born January 8, 1953 in Chatham County to the late Douglas Fairbanks McGowan and the late Hazel Tillman McGowan. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a Helicopter Pilot for Glynn County. Mr. McGowan was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by a brother, Del McGowan.
Survivors include his wife, Cris McGowan of Surrency; daughters, Erica (Brian) Ogden of Odum and Allison (Harold) Nash of Surrency; brothers, Douglas F. (Sheri) McGowan, Jr. of Glen Mt. Mary, FL, and Timothy McGowan of Surrency. Four grandchildren, Sadie Ogden, Caroline Ogden, Piper Nash and Cooper Nash also survive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Brickyard Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Harold Nash, Brian Ogden, Trey English, Walace Head, Jack Kesler, and Bryce Nyberg.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
