
Mitchell Wade Blanton, age 68, of Baxley passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at his residence.
Mr. Blanton was born May 10, 1956 in Appling County and was a member of Surrency Free Will Baptist Church. He was a former devoted employee of Akzo Nobel and was an avid fisherman and hunter. Mr. Blanton was preceded in death by his father, Elbert Blanton, and two brothers, Adrian Blanton and Royce Blanton.
Survivors include his son, Eric Blanton of Baxley; mother, Myrtle Lou Blanton of Surrency; sisters, Betty Moody of Surrency, Teresa Dees, Linda Moody, and Tansey Nail (Roger Hollis) all of Baxley; brothers, J. C. (Robyn) Blanton of Baxley, Keith (Bernice) Blanton of Jacksonville, FL, Kyle Blanton and Kelly Blanton both Surrency. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 9, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Rev. Joey Andrews and Rev. Danny Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Surrency City Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Chad Allen, Jared Allen, Jake Pitts, Steve Craven, Mickey Claxton, Stewart Nencioni, Ken Wiggins and Bryan Youmans.
The visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
