Appling County Sheriff’s Report (8/17/18 – 8/23/18)

WEEKLY REPORT
Sheriff Mark Melton, Lt. Kenny Wright, Deputy Keith Mack, Deputy Michael Byrd, Deputy Mark Raiford, and Investigator Robert Eunice attended the Peace Officers Association of Georgia Conference this week.  Lt. Wright served as Sargent of Arms at the conference where he also worked security for the event.  Jennifer Davis of the ACSO Administrative Staff attended the Sex Offender Registry Management Conference. Lisa Theus of the ACSO and Gigi Cannon from the 911 Center, attended the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) Team Agency Coordinators (TAC) Conference.  Pastor Roy McClung was Chaplin for the week.
For the week of August 17, 2018 through August 23, 2018, the Appling County Office (ACSO) provided the following services:  
Deputies and Investigators made 10 arrests, issued 59 warnings, wrote 30 citations, served eight (8) Criminal and eight (8) Civil papers for various courts, and completed 32 incident reports. The Appling County Sheriff’s Office provided security for both Criminal and Juvenile Courts.   K-9 Cash performed eight (8) drug searches this week.  There were eight (8) vehicle crashes worked by deputies, with assists from the Georgia State Patrol. Deputies patrolled 6,055 miles for the period and performed 27 property checks. The Sheriff’s Office considered it an honor to provide four (4) funeral escort throughout the week.  Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office initiated four (4) new criminal investigations.  
The Appling County Detention Center provided protection for our citizens by safely housing an average of 87 inmates during the current period.  Jailers completed 18 new inmate intakes and processed 34 inmate releases, which includes inmates from other counties that request our assistance in housing their inmates.  The medical unit provided 61 medical checks for the weeks and food service served 1927 meals.  We continue to provide one outside detail that maintains the grounds of most county facilities.
Our 911 Emergency Call Center Dispatchers received and dispatched 705 calls for service, of which 174 were emergency calls directly to 911.  These numbers do not include routine communications between dispatch and units nor does it include the normal calls for training and drills.
