Dublin VA to Host Fall Festival Oct. 15

Dublin, Ga. — The Carl Vinson VA Medical Center will hold its 4th annual Veterans Health Education Fall Festival Oct. 15 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. to inform veterans, their families, and veteran supporters about programs and services available through VA.
The event will include booths with materials that explain the many services available at the VA, including primary care, mental health, and social services. Participants will enjoy health care-themed games and refreshments as they learn about ways to protect their health and enhance the quality of their lives by improving their health through regular checkups and exercise. Information will include ways to mitigate veteran homelessness, prevent suicides, and help veterans manage their weight.
Dorothy Gibson, a nurse educator at the Dublin VA and the event coordinator, wants veterans and veteran supporters to join the medical center for the event so that veterans and their supporters can learn about the health care services that VA has to offer.
“Modern VA offers so much to veterans that can enhance their lives and improve the quality of their health. Our annual health fair is one way that we get the word out about these excellent programs and services,” Gibson said.
Communications director Dr. Frank Jordan noted that the fall festival is also one more way that the VA ensures effective community relationships that work for the benefit of veterans.
“Everything that modern VA does must be a partnership with our stakeholders to make sure that we are successful in providing the best health care possible to our veterans. Events like our annual health fair give our public a chance to come in and see what their VA is doing to care for America’s heroes. We hope everyone will come by and enjoy the fun,” Jordan said.
To register a table for the event or for more information, contact Dorothy Gibson at 478-272-120 ext. 3572 or Dorothy.Gibson@va.gov.
