Appling County Sheriff’s Office Seizes Record Quantity of Heroin

On Friday, July 31, 2020 the Appling County Sheriff’s Office assisted by the Baxley Police Department conducted traffic stops and a search yielding a record seizure of heroin in Appling County. 
The Sheriff’s Office completed this phase of their investigation with four (4) arrest and the seizure of over five (5) ounces of heroin, over six (6) ounces of crack and powder cocaine, multiple pills, scales, packaging materials and $2,906.00 in US Currency. The following arrest were made:  

  • 47-year-old Henry Leon Reddish of 233 James Kent Road, Baxley, GA was arrested for Violation of Georgia Controlled Substance Act (VGCSA) Possession of Cocaine.
  • 37-year-old Derek Eston Murray of 27 Simmons Street, Baxley, GA was arrested for VGCSA Possession of Heroin.  
  • 45- year old Sean Christopher Thomas of 129 Kersey Street, Baxley, GA was arrested for VGCSA Possession of Cocaine, VGCSA Possession of Cocaine with intent to Distribute, VGCSA Possession of Heroin with intent to Distribute, VGCSA Trafficking in Cocaine, VGCSA Trafficking in Heroin and VGCSA Possession of Drug Related Objects. 
  • 51-year old Leah B. Thomas of 129 Kersey Street, Baxley, GA was arrested for VGCSA Possession of Drug Related Objects. Thomas will also be charged with VGCSA Possession of Cocaine with intent to Distribute, VGCSA Possession of Heroin with intent to Distribute, VGCSA Trafficking in Cocaine, VGCSA Trafficking in Heroin.
