While we are working on Attitude of Gratitude we encourage you to start a journal. We are calling our journals for this journey “Blessings Counted”
Steps to Write a Blessings Counted Journal
-
Pick Your Format
-
Decide if you’ll use a notebook, digital journal, or even index cards in a box.
-
Keep it simple and easy to reach daily.
-
-
Set a Routine
-
Choose a consistent time—morning (to start your day in thanks) or evening (to reflect on blessings).
-
Even 5 minutes a day is powerful.
-
-
Start with a Prompt
-
Examples:
-
“Today I’m grateful for…”
-
“One small thing that brought me joy today was…”
-
“A challenge I faced today that taught me something was…”
-
-
-
List 3–5 Things Daily
-
Be specific: instead of “I’m thankful for family,” write “I’m thankful for my sister calling me this morning to check in.”
-
This trains your heart to notice details.
-
-
Include Feelings and Reflection
-
Write how that blessing made you feel or how you saw God’s hand in it.
-
Example: “I felt peace when I watched the sunset—it reminded me of God’s faithfulness.”
-
-
Add Variety
-
Write about people, nature, opportunities, lessons from hardships, even simple comforts like coffee or a good laugh.
-
-
Close with Intention or Prayer (optional)
-
End with: “Tomorrow I will look for joy in…” or “Lord, thank You for…”
-
This sets your mind toward positivity for the next day.
