
Appling County High School administrators received a report today regarding a possible firearm on campus. The administrative team, in partnership with the School Resource Deputy, acted immediately to investigate.
The student in question was promptly sequestered, and a search was conducted in accordance with district safety protocols. During the search, a handgun was discovered in the student’s vehicle.
The student was turned over to the Appling County Sheriff’s Office, and law enforcement is continuing the investigation. At no time were other students or staff in immediate danger.
The safety and security of our students and staff remain our highest priority. Appling County Schools will continue to work closely with law enforcement to ensure our campuses remain safe learning environments.
