12-01-16—While executing a search warrant at a residence on Blackshear Highway it led to the arrest of Joshua Bryan Courson age 38 of Baxley. Courson was charged with VGCS/Methamphetamine and Possession of Firearms by Convicted Felon.
12-02-16—Complainant came to the Sheriff’s Office to report Identity Fraud. Complainant stated a family member used her name but their social security number to open an account. Family member and complainant settled the issue.
12-03-16—Answered a call to Industrial Blvd. in reference to a one-vehicle deer accident. No injuries were reported.
12-03-16—A routine traffic stop on US#1 South led to the arrest of Darin Leigh Vanness age 45 of Baxley and Roy Lynn Rogers age 54 of Alma. Vanness was charged with VGCS and Failure to Drive Within a Single Lane. Rogers was charged with VGCS.
12-04-16—Answered a call to Prentiss Road in reference to a Burglary. Investigation led to the arrest of Christopher Warren Brannen age 31 of Baxley. Brannen was charged with Burglary.
12-04-16—Answered a call to Altamaha School Road in reference to a Domestic. Complainant stated he believed his son to be under the influence of some type substance. Appling EMS transported subject to Appling ER for treatment.
12-05-16—Answered a call to Brown Street in reference to a Domestic. Complainant stated subject that lives in her house became intoxicated, got mad and knocked a hole in a door. Subject left the residence before officer arrived.
12-05-16—Answered a call to April Lane in reference to a Civil Dispute. Complainant stated his ex-girlfriend would not let him have his ladder that was left at her residence.
12-06-16—Complainant came to the Sheriff’s Office to report Theft by Deception. Complainant stated in August of this year she gave approximately $2,400 worth of bales of straw to a subject to sell for her. To this date the subject has not paid her for the straw.
12-06-16—Answered a call to Hwy. 341 in reference to a one-vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.
12-06-16—Answered a call to Ernest Kesler Road in reference to a Domestic. Male subject was walking on the roadway shirtless with a large cut to his head. Appling EMS responded, transported subject to ER. Subject stated his girlfriend struck him in the head with a bottle during an argument. Subject did not want to press charges.
12-06-16—Answered a call to Lake Mayers Road in reference to Trespassers. Complainant stated he was taking care of his uncle’s home and noticed a light was on. Deputies entered the home but no one was located.
12-07-16—Deputies went to a residence on Orange Street to serve a warrant on a wanted subject which escalated and led to the arrest of Thomas L. Rios age 20 of Baxley, Michael John Berg age 21 of Baxley, Ryan Tucker Bratcher age 17 of Baxley and Cassondra Lynn Kmecik age 18 of Baxley. Rios was charged with Furnishing, Purchasing & Possession of Alcoholic beverage below legal Age, Obstruction of an Officer and Giving False Information/False Name. Berg was charged with Willful Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officer by the Use of Threats or Violence, Bratcher was charged with Obstruction of an Officer, and Kmecik was charged with Obstruction of an Officer.
12-07-16—Answered a call to Ashley Drive in reference to a Theft. Complainant stated he parked his undriveable 2006 Chevy Silverado at a residence on Ashley Drive approximately three months ago. This date he went to check on the vehicle and it was gone. Vehicle was entered into GCIC. Investigation continues.
12-07-16—Answered a call to Hwy. 144 in reference to a Theft. Complainant stated she is missing two Jaguar motors from her shop. Investigation continues.
12-08-16—Answered a call to Pitty Pat Lane in reference to a Theft. Complainant stated someone stole a toaster oven, and a Ry Obi Tool set from her shelter. Investigation continues.
12-08-16—A routine traffic stop on Hwy.15 resulted in the arrest of William Corey Orvin age 34 of Baxley, Ruben Frank Holcomb age 33 of Baxley, Gerardo Rangel age 33 of Baxley and Christy Lynn Rentz age 43 of Baxley. All four subjects have been charged with Possession of Drug Related Objects, Possession of Schedule 11 Hydrophone, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Heroin/Opiates, and Pills not in Original Container.
12-08-16—Answered a call to a local pawn shop in reference to a Burglary. Employee stated someone had stolen a Kawasaki dirt bike by pulling up the outer fence and sliding the motorcycle underneath the fence. Motorcycle was entered into GCIC records. Investigation continues.
