The following is a press release from Appling County School Superintendent Scarlett Miles Copeland:
“After an intensive, ongoing investigation, credible evidence regarding a threat to the school and students was found this evening with assistance of our school officials, school police department, and local law enforcement. The student who made the threat concerning the school has been removed.”

UPDATE:
This statement was released by Dr. Copeland earlier this morning:
“The threat was made by a student to another student about shooting up the school at Appling County high school. Other students had indicated rumors of a threat prior to that. The Administration, school police department and law-enforcement have been working tediously on all information given. As a result, The student has been removed from school and the authorities are working with him now as the investigation continues”.
